Where to rent a car in Tunisia? Comparison site, broker, chain or local agency

There are four ways to rent: a comparison site (Kayak) shows prices then sends you elsewhere; a broker (Discover Cars, Rentalcars, Booking.com) and a chain (Europcar) usually ask for a credit card in the driver's name; a local agency often takes cash or a debit card, but you have to find a good one. reservations.tn finds it for you: one request, a verified partner agency, no credit card to book, pay on arrival.

Which one when

A comparison site

To see many brands' prices in a minute. You then book elsewhere, on that site's terms.

An online broker

If you have a credit card in your name, want to pay online and read customer reviews of each agency.

An international chain

For a company expense report, a loyalty scheme, or the exact same contract as in Europe.

reservations.tn

If you don't have a credit card, want to pay on arrival, talk to a person on WhatsApp, and also book a transfer, an excursion or Umrah in the same place.

Credit card, deposit, prepayment: what to know

  1. 1

No credit card doesn't mean no deposit. The deposit is a guarantee returned at the end; only the way you pay it changes (held on a card, or paid on the spot).

  2. 2

Prepayment is the rental price paid online in advance. The deposit is different: it's paid when you collect the keys and given back to you.

  3. 3

With a comparison site, the terms (payment, deposit, cancellation) are those of the site you end up booking on: read them before you pay.

  4. 4

When you collect the car, walk around it on video with the agent, and keep the written confirmation of your booking.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best site to rent a car in Tunisia?

It depends on your card. With a credit card in your name, a broker like Discover Cars or a chain like Europcar works. Without one, go through a local agency: reservations.tn finds you a verified one in a single request, with no credit card to book and payment on arrival.

Can I rent a car in Tunisia without a credit card?

Yes, from local agencies. On reservations.tn no credit card is needed to book: you pay when you collect the car, in dinars, and leave a refundable deposit of €500 to €3,000 depending on the car, in cash or by card.

Does Kayak rent cars?

No. Kayak is a search engine: it compares offers and sends you to book on another site, whose payment and deposit terms apply.

Do I need a credit card at Europcar Tunis-Carthage?

Yes. Europcar asks for a credit card in the main driver's name and accepts no cash, debit or prepaid card (Europcar Tunis Airport station page, September 2026).

Does no credit card mean no deposit?

No. A deposit is almost always required; without a credit card it's paid another way, for example on the spot, and returned when you bring the car back.

How does reservations.tn work?

You send a request (car, dates, place). We find the car at one of our verified partner agencies and confirm on WhatsApp. You pay the agency when you collect the keys.

Is reservations.tn more expensive than a comparison site?

Our prices are shown before you book, fixed per car, with no booking fee. Compare them with a comparison site's total price, deposit and insurance included, for the same dates.
